Learn Everything under 1 minute on this Video

Once, I wished to use my oculus quest 2 lying down. Playing video games or watching shows on Netflix or youtube, that’s all the things I wanted to do with my vr headsets.

Eventually, I figured out the trick that worked for me

As meta suggests, to use your quest vr lying down, simply adjust the floor level and create a room-scale boundary around your bed. Finally, by recentering the entire view you can achieve that comfort you desire for a really long time.

If you choose to use quest 2 lying down, you’ll experience great navigation, watching movies, and virtual reality, but you’ll find it less convenient when it comes to online gaming due to not being able to readjust the view.

But i will never suggest charging while using the headset laying down. It will cause harm to battery life and you may end up damaging the charging cable and charging port.

Most Reliable Method To Optimize Your VR For Lying Down

Below we will show you some precise methods of using Oculus quest, quest 2 and Go while laying down:

Watch/Play Quest 2 VR While Lying Down

Here you just only need to do two things such as, create a guardian and then recenter your view to the ceiling.

This method works best for streaming and gaming as well. Look at the following process:

  • Make sure the headset is powered on
  • Ensure that the floor level is set to the actual level of the floor, not the bed or couch. It will make you appear taller in your VR world.
  • Set up a boundary around your bed/couch on a scale that matches the size of the room
  • Lay on your back and with the help of the Oculus Button on your right controller, you can recenter your view.

Note: With this method, you can also play or stream while sitting down.

Watch/Play Meta Quest While Laying In Bed Or Couch

By disabling Guardian tracking, you can enjoy streaming on Oculus quest while lying down. In order to do that:

  • Turn on your meta quest headset
  • Go to the home screen
  • Select settings > seel all > Device
  • Now turn off the tracking function

Note: If you want to reset the view, hold down the menu button or touch the controller, and then you will view the reset.

Methods To Use Oculus Go While Lying Down

This is quite easy if want to watch something interesting, for example, Netflix shows –

  • Just turn on your streaming platform (Such as Netflix)
  • Move the cursor on your left and click on “Void Theater”
  • Now relax and sit or lay back to enjoy your shows

Note: If you don’t want to move your screen, then unselect the moving option.

Things to consider while Lying Down With Your Meta Quest 2

Besides enjoying streaming or gaming, you need to consider some of the things:

Adjust The IPD Slider

If you have difficulty keeping the lenses in focus when you’re lying down, one of the first things you should do is adjust the IPD (interpupillary distance) slider on your quest 2.

This will ensure that the lenses are properly aligned with your eyes, which will make it easier to keep them in focus.

To adjust the IPD slider, simply loosen the screws on either side of the slider and slide it until the lenses are properly aligned with your eyes. Once you’ve tightened the screws, you should notice a significant improvement in lens clarity.

Raise Your Overall Body

It would be better if you raise your head/body by placing a pillow or soft blanket.

It will help you to experience the VR world while lying down better.

Use A Third-Party Lens Cover

Another way to keep your lenses from fogging up is to use a third-party lens cover.

These covers help to absorb any moisture that may be present in the air, which can prevent fogging and provide a clearer VR experience.

Increase The Display Brightness

Increasing the brightness can improve image clarity and prevent eye strain when lying down.

The Problem You May Face While Using Quest 2 Laying Down

Quest 2 is designed to be used sitting up or standing up. If you wish to use it while lying down, there’s a chance that you could damage the lenses.

Using Quest 2 while lying down can interfere with your body’s natural vestibular system.

This system is responsible for Balance and spatial orientation, and it relies on input from your eyes and ears to function properly.

When you’re lying down, your ears are lower than your eyes, which can throw off this system and cause nausea or dizziness.

So if you’re prone to motion sickness, it’s best to avoid using Quest 2 while lying down altogether.

The last drawback to some games is that you can’t track your body or adjust the visualization if you’re lying down on a flat surface.
